When talking
about Idar-Oberstein, gemstones of course come to mind immediately.
Originally the mining of gemstones, bringing agates, rock crystals,
amethysts and other splendid stones to the daylight, was an
important formative influence on the city.

manufacturing and contributed to the city's reputation world-wide.

Nahe region. Many cultural and architectural landmarks indicate a
