Discover
Wiesbaden: The charm of this former "Imperial City" or
"World Spa City" can still be seen everywhere in town.
Looked at a little closer, Wiesbaden's image as modern capital of
the state of Hesse merges with that of a historic gem which
cherishes its tradition in an endearing way.
Wiesbaden has buildings of special architectural style and numerous
buildings are historic works of art. Generously laid out parks and
green areas and the nearby Rhine River are other valuable attributes
of the city. Here is the fashionable downtown area with its
buildings of historic splendour, and there you are embraced by the
hustle and bustle of the old town with its half-timbered houses and
intimate vine cellars as a lovely alternative.
The sensational discovery by the Romans some 2000 years has remained
a tourist attraction to this day: the new old Emperor Friedrich Hot
Spring still profits from the healing effect of the water of totally
26 hot springs and is an oasis in which to relax. Another place
which nobody can resist is the Aukammtal thermal bath which after
extensive reconstruction and modernization is again a modern spa.
Antiquities, lifestyle, luxury, the city of sparkling wines enjoys
sweet life and many merry street and vine fetes and festivals.
People who enjoy culture and literature will relish the
Baroque-style State theatre, the historic spa house, the museum and
a visit to one of several small theatres.
