Day trip to Koblenz Christmas Market
Arrive in the morning with Ryanair at Hahn airport then return
in the evening. Koblenz is easy to get to with a direct shuttle bus
service and an ideal destination for those with a taste for the
extraordinary!
From 25 November to 23 December 2006, Koblenz's traditional
Christmas market will be held for the first time in the picturesque
old quarter, just a stone's throw from the main shopping street.
There will be around 100 festively decorated wooden stalls offering
an extensive range of hand-made goods and Christmas decorations as
well as a huge range of seasonal gift ideas.
A wealth of highlights are planned for this year's Christmas market,
all under the watchful eye of the boy on the famous "Schängel"
fountain: live music accompanying German and international Christmas
carols will conjure up a festive atmosphere, while fun on ice is
provided by an illuminated ice rink in the heart of the old quarter.
An ice sculptor will also be on hand, chiselling out Koblenz's most
famous landmarks from blocks of ice.
An array of concerts (classical, jazz, gospel) as well as nostalgic
carriage rides through the enchanting old quarter are perfect for
romantic interludes. The 24 advent calendar windows on the roof of
the baroque town hall are sure to get every visitor into the
Christmas spirit...
